![]() ![]() I love the series, and have all the audiobooks including two of the volumes of stories. I’ve ended up writing a whole novel in this comment: The first 3 books kind of conclude their own plot arc, and 4 (spring) onward start a sort of second plot arc, introducing several more characters that the next books are based on. ![]() ![]() I recognize that it could be daunting to start on such a long series but I guarantee you’ll get sucked in. BUT, if you liked the movie then I’m certain you will enjoy the book. The music felt forced and I also think that Ben was miscast. These give us more backstory/show their motivations and the little vignettes add depth to their character - they’re fully realized and not just “plot devices.”Īs for the movie, it was a major disappointment, and I share the opinion of the other commenters. Another thing that I find special is that the side characters get attention especially in the short stories. You grow up with them throughout the course of the books and see how they evolve. ![]() What stuck with me most about this series is how well fleshed out the characters are - they really feel like real people. I will second the observation that Bell’s writing improves throughout the series - when I reread Summer I definitely noticed it. I can’t recommend this series enough! I’ve read all 12 books twice and what really resonated with me is how well you get to know the characters and they really stick with you. ![]()
